Curriculum

Kundan International School stands committed to create not just learners but good human beings. Launched in the year 2007, the school  has strongly made its presence felt in and around the area through its holistic approach towards education and life as a whole. The school aims at not only imparting education but also nurturing students to be imbibed with a deep sense of noble virtues. Our school provides a perfect blend of traditional and modern values through holistic integration of activities   that lead to the development of the personality. The student centered methodology explores various intelligences while acknowledging different learning needs and abilities of students and seek to optimize their learning by addressing individual requirements and focusing on competencies of the students in a very positive way.  Competencies are the applied skills and knowledge that enable learners to successfully lead their life and perform the work required by them in daily life.

In this situation of Covid-19, it is our responsibility to provide the students with multiple alternative ways of learning at home through interesting activities. It is necessary because in the present environment of stress, we not only have to keep our children busy but also maintain continuity of their learning in their new classes. This needs an integration of technology in education with component of digital literacy, scientific temper and computational thinking for a holistic learning experience of the students.

The NEP, which is designed to ease the burden of classroom teaching and examination on students, will play an important role in creating the future of the country. The school emphasize on practical and experiential learning which will lead to instilling the 21st century skills of creativity and critical thinking in the children. There needs to be a tectonic shift in the pedagogical structure where the outcome of learning should not be based on the completion of course but on the understanding of the topic.

As per the New Education Policy 2020, the existing 10+2 structure in school education will be modified with a new pedagogical and curricular restructuring of5+3+3+4 covering ages 3-18. This means the first five years of school will comprise of the foundation stage. The next three years will be divided into a preparatory stage from classes 3 to 5. Later, there will be three years of middle stage (classes 6 to 8), and four years of secondary stage (classes 9 to 12).

Foundation Stage (Nursery to Grade II)

The fundamental principles of foundation stage is to accord highest priority to achieving foundational literacy and numeracy by all students.

Kundan International School   firmly believes that “Foundation” is the most important stage to mould the children to face the changing early education scenario across the nation. Early Years is a time for curiosity, discovery, fun, play, and imagination. At the same time, the goal of Early Years education is to create lifelong learners with a positive attitude and disposition to learning. It is to enable children to connect to the world they live in and thus make learning a meaningful experience.

In our Foundation Stage classes, our objective is to help our toddlers learn in an informal, playway method without burdening them. The colourful classrooms are equipped with the latest child friendly equipment, play materials and educational toys. Use of the smart board and numerous audio-visual aids help children to learn through multimedia in a fun filled, interesting way. . Music and Sports are also an integral part of the program. Celebrations of different Festivals take place in the school premises to make the child learn and understand different values and cultures.

Fully Air- Conditioned classrooms are there for the learners to feel more comfortable. From time to time open but monitored field trips are organized. The school has been designed with the element of excitement in terms of ramp and railings that are easier and exciting for the child to climb with adequate lighting and ventilation for the child to breathe. Lush green gardens and play area is beautifully designed for the kids to play with friends and enjoy.

Preparatory Stage (Grade III to V)

In Preparatory section, careful planning ensures that students become lifelong learners & weaned away rote learning. To achieve that, the school has adopted Inquiry Based Learning at this stage. This system ensures that children are exposed to “How to Learn” rather than “What to Learn“. The activites of creativity, critical thinking and collaboration moulds them into life long learners.

Experiential learning including arts-integrated and sports-integrated education as well as story-telling-based pedagogy are included in the curriculum. The ‘Preparatory’ section curriculum is specially designed to lead impeccably to the middle  school programme.

Middle Stage (Grade VI to VIII)

Middle school curriculum is planned and guided by the school teachers which outlines the core concepts of integration of vocational skills, performances, attitudes and values which the students are expected to learn from schooling. Kundan International school has introduced Artificial Intelligence & Design Thinking in the school curriculum from the session 2020-2021 onwards which is being widely recognized to be the power that will fuel the future global digital economy.
